This month workplace experts, Acas, have published advice for employers to help them support new parents.
The advice is specifically for parents who have given birth to premature or ill babies. The Chief Executive of Acas, Anne Sharp, commented that there were over 95,000 premature or sick babies born each year in the UK and for their families this resulted in an emotional and difficult time.
Acas hopes that the new advice will help explain the law within this complicated area in a way that will help employers support working parents whilst taking account of the needs of their business.
